What is CAreer Pathways?

CAreer Pathways is a set of online learning resources provided by the California State Library to libraries throughout the state of California. They are all focused on workforce development; these allow users of the library to gain new skills, gain familiarity with unfamiliar technologies, and gives the learning tools they may need to continue their education.

These resources are free to library users.

Brainfuse VetNow
Brainfuse VetNow is an all-in-one suite of services designed for a wide range of veteran needs: whether it’s tackling a resume, navigating the VA system, or adjusting to a civilian career. VetNow services include expert coaching and self-study tools to empower users. Users may access live, on-demand assistance from expert Job Coaches or Veteran Navigators.

Coursera
Coursera is the global online learning platform that offers online courses and degrees from world-class universities and companies. You can take courses to acquire job-relevant skills and credentials from many different major businesses and organizations. SVPL users can sign up for 6 months of Coursera access. After registering, Coursera can be accessed directly at coursera.org.

GetSetUp
GetSetUp is focused on those 50+ who are looking to learn new skills and hobbies. Experience a wide range of classes: learn new computer skills, follow along with guided meditation, or exercise with fitness instruction!

LearningExpress Library
LearningExpress is comprised of a comprehensive selection of interactive online tutorials, practice tests, articles, e-books, and high-stakes test preparation — modeled after official tests. An online educational site that includes thousands of video-based courses in popular fields like web design, web development, IT, education/instruction, media production, and business. Courses can be accessed at the library or from home. A valuable resource for anybody looking to land a job, move up in their career, excel in the position they have, or just explore an area of interest.
